Welcome to the Pursuit.
Just a guy from Ohio chasing fish and game the way most of us have to- smart, scrappy, and on a real budget. I don’t have a massive budget for gear and trips. I’ll tell you what has worked for me, and how I try get the best bang for my buck with my gear choices.
If you’re here, I want to shout a massive thank you! I’m Jordan Renick, your friendly neighborhood outdoor enthusiast. I whipped up this site for a few reasons, the biggest being my undying love for the great wide wilderness. As outdoorsmen, it’s our duty to keep the sports alive while dodging any drama, like a game of dodgeball with the elements! I’ve been fishing longer than I’ve been able to tie my shoelaces. I passed my hunter safety certification back in ’95, which is basically just a fancy way of saying I won’t shoot my own foot off. One thing that always cracks me up is the bickering among outdoorsmen over trivial matters—it’s like watching Ford, Chevy, and Dodge fans squabble over whose truck is the best. Spoiler alert: they all have their merits, just like family recipes passed down through generations! I’ve seen the same tribal vibes while seeking advice on tactics or gear, and let me tell you, it can get as heated as a campfire sing-along gone wrong. Despite all that, I often find myself running for the hills, abandoning these social media campsites. I realize I’m diving into this same fire of opinions and debates by creating this site, but hey, what’s life without a little friendly fire? My goal is to share my quirks and war stories to help others, and if I’m fortunate, make some new pals along this wild ride!
Disclaimer: If the opportunity for sponsorships ever came along, I think I would be foolish to say no. My point is I am a believer in using the gear and tactics that you love, and what makes for the best experience for you. Personally, if I am particular to a brand it is because I have had good experiences in the field. While also understanding, my brand choice is not the only brand choice.
